LYNX

LYNX made their debut to the Goan Music scene in the year 1994 & within the span of one year, grew immense popularity because of their unique rendition of various styles of music which appealed to the public. It is because of this very appeal, they performed in various cities of India, and countries abroad such as England, Dubai, Doha-Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, & Abu-Dhabi. Lynx was also the first Goan band to have performed for two full term contracts in Dubai.

 

The band holds the unique distinction of being the first Goan musicians ever, to make a CD containing Konkani & English music ~ both traditional and original, called "Viva Goenkar" a highly successful venture to date. Lynx is also the only Goan band to have 4 very successful released albums. Followed by the debut album was "Christmas with Lynx & Friends", "Spirit of Goa" to "Lets Groove" which was released in 2011. In 2007, Lynx won the most coveted title for bands in Goa - "Sprite - Band of the Sand" competition. The prize included a recording with EMI Virgin Records titled "LYNX -Spirit of Goa" which was released in March 2008. This is also how they got to be popularly known as "LYNX - BAND OF THE SAND"Feb 19th - 2012, Lynx stood out yet again when they played for the wedding of India's Tennis Star Mahesh Bhupathi to Lara Dutta.

The band encompasses classic music from the 1940's to the modern day pop. This includes Jazz, Swing, Bebop, Country, Disco, Rock n Roll, Ballroom, Jive, Techno Pop, Rap, Reggae to Classic & Modern Rock. Besides English, the band also performs Hindi, especially modern day Hindi Pop, Konkani, Portuguese, Arabic, Swahili, Marathi, Spanish & many more. The band always believed in working up a sweat & creating music entirely relying upon skill, talent & hours of dedicated practice. It also means not making use of electronic crutches to create magic in music. The camaraderie between the members of the band goes beyond music, and this rapport is reflected in their music. They are friends first, then musicians.
